Brushstroke Stickers: The Decorative Superstars You Are Overlooking

Weekly planner layout with brushstroke stickers used as date covers.

"What is your favorite sticker?"  Ahhh the planner icebreaker question you see in so many planner related posts. Is it a full deco box? A checklist? Maybe you like a fun washi. Me? I freaking love a brushstroke sticker.  Not only is it versatile in it's usage, it's budget friendly, and one of the most efficient ways to add some fun to you layout when you are lacking in time (or motivation).

Simple ways to utilize brushstroke stickers:

  • Date covers - a super easy way to re-date that old planner you purchased (but didn't use).
  • Highlight appointments/important meetings
  • Checklist headers - I often use them for weekly to-do lists, shopping lists, etc.
  • Layering element - layer behind a simple box to upgrade its look.
  • Dividers - throw a stroke of color to divide a space or separate thoughts.
  • White out alternative - who wants to wait for it to dry?  Throw a sticker over that mistake and move on.

More out-of-the-box ways I've used brushstroke stickers:

  • Washi alternative - layered brushstrokes along the top or bottom of a page to create a washi tape effect.
  • Regular tape alternative - use stickers to secure a photo, note, or other similar item  to your layout.
  • Date dots/checklist bullets -  I used a paper punch and cut out individual dots to use to re-date a monthly layout. Yes, it was tedious but it looked great.

This week I don't have a lot of appointments I need to get to, but I do have a whole lot of tasks I would like to get done at work and around the house.  I didn't want to use a full kit knowing that I wouldn't utilize many of the stickers.  Instead I have opted to use a set of brushstroke stickers to add some color over the dates, and to highlight the few scheduled places I need to be at. This leaves me plenty of room for my various to-do lists and notes that I'll end up jotting down as the week progresses.   While it's not as elaborate as some of my other planner spreads, it does offer enough interest that I'll keep coming back.
